Growing into a small human

My baby is a small person. How did that happen? This morning as I lay exhausted on the bed with her scooped in my arms she gently closed my eyes with her fingers,said ‘na night’ then kissed me. Then she quietly lay down next to me. 

Yesterday on a day trip to the zoo when I was trying to give her a snack she said, ‘no no…’ and she pushed the snack away, then she said, ‘Do-do… na night’ took the dummy and then settled down to sleep. 

Later that same day she appeared tired but an hour earlier than bed time. She put her head on my knee then on the pillow. Meaning it to be rhetorical I said, ‘Are you ready for bobies?’ to which she replied, ‘Yees’. Then she picked up her dummy, pointed to the door and waved ‘na night.’

Sometimes I just sit and marvel at her. She is learning and growing and turning into a little lady before my very eyes. She chats away, names and points at things. And the most amazing thing of all is that we made her and she is learning from us every day. She literally is a little sponge and a parrot. She takes everything in, quite often mimics but you only need to show her something once or twice and she remembers.

All of a sudden she is able to communicate effectively what she wants…most of the time annoyingly by screeching and pointing – but no matter how much that screech goes through me it’s amazing to see how much she has learned all of a sudden. 

I grew a baby inside me and now I  nurturing a small human.  Her personality,sense of humour and temper are all emerging and it’s lovely getting to know my little person even more.
